A Wicked Library Halloween

The Wicked Library Halloween 2020 episode features a new story of mine and two fantastic entries to chill your blood this October.  Eerie listening for any season really, we have a trio of tales…

“Light on Broken Glass”, by Gary A. Braunbeck  read by Nelson W. Pyles whose voice I know and trust, so his reading of a first person twilight zone take is unsettling. This works to great effect when the world around this man begins to crumble, to vaporize before his eyes.

“The Dinner Conversation”, by Nelson W. Pyles with the perfect voice of Erika Sanderson telling the potato joke I know with perfect disgust. No joke orherwise, this carries darkness like Nelson often teases out of his characters. Only after you start to like them do they turn terrifying.

3: “Checking Out”, by Lydia Peever read with great pacing by Cynthia Lowman works as a good bookend, mirroring themes from the first story and the seething that follows from the second. A study on rot, decay, and what festers. Take a photo tour of the inspiration at

Nico Vettese does an amazing job with the music which suits the entire collection from start to end. Atmospheric and moody, the score swells and stifles as it needs to. I always look forward to the accompanying work by this tireless musician from We Talk of Dreams as well as Dan’s calm introduction and the Librarian ushering us deeper into darkness.

Thank you for including me in another wonderful year with The Wicked Library.
