From copy of verses set by Herman Yerkie Jr. @1940 or thereabout… the bible is from the late 18th century, Lutheran, and has other family tree information written down by Wilhelmina Schizkoske.

The story so far…

Yerkie can be spelled Yerki, Yarkie, Yukie, Georke, Gerke, or Gherke in some cases.
Not all of these lines are connected
The Yerkie family apparenly emigrated from Strasberg, West Prussia, Germany.

Gottlieb Gerke (Yerkie) married Caroline Ringel

@ Sometime before 1865, Prussia.
Their children:
Herman Yerkie
Carl Charles Yerkie
Amelia Bertha Yerkie (Fox)
* perhaps one Florinchen Volez was her daughter in a later marriage.
* another son was with them @1865, died and was buried at sea.
This is a far as I am at this point in research.
My next job is verifying the above information.
