Nothing But Blackened Teeth • Manga-style Teen Horror for adults

There were widely mixed reviews for Nothing But Blackened Teeth by Cassandra Khaw and I am very late to the game. I will always think of this as one of the best presented books in a long time – the cover art is beautiful. I also enjoyed the story, and the more I think on it, it strikes me as a manga-style, 90s teen horror cycle tale told with a far more modern take on language, with more than one cardboard cut-out character. But that is fine, since we have our hero Cat to guide us through this; whether it be in our search for true horror or fan-service easter-eggs.

Looking forward to reading their next book, The Salt Grows Heavy, sooner rather than this much later!

If you enjoyed this one, let me know – did you go in blind, or like me did you have forewarning that the story was not what everyone expected?

I talk horror books; extreme horror, classic, slasher, gothic, and everything in between. Helping you find the next best horror book to read is the goal, and sharing new and old horror from my #booktube shelves and new releases is how! Horror, nonfiction and even true crime can be found here as I find that human beings are the scariest thing of all.
